  4. ATLAS lets you compose and manipulate many sorts of "maps"-- geographic or anatomical atlases, schematic diagrams, and so on.

You may choose and combine sets of transparent "overlays" that contain the features you are interested in seeing.  You can thus tailor maps to your own needs, limited only by the range of overlays contained in the database.  You may "zoom in" for greater detail and "zoom out" to get the broader picture.

  8. You may want to create your own ATLAS database.  All you need is a set of MacPaint pictures.

  10. To use an existing database, choose "Open..." from the File menu.  To create a database of your own, choose "New..." from the same menu.  Help is available at all times.
